DIED IN JAP P O W CAMP
Captain Lionel C. Matthews, of Clayton rd, Marryatville, Adelaide, and formerly of Armadale and
Auburn, Vic- toria, died in a Japanese POW camp on March 2, 1944. This advice has been re- ceived by his wife. Captain Matthews, who was the second son of Mr and Mrs E. R. Matthews, of Magill road, Stepney, SA, leaves a son, Donald, aged
six and a half
years. Before enlisting Captain Mat- thews was employed by Brooks, Robinson Pty Ltd, Melbourne. He enlisted in July, 1940, and sailed with the first contingent for Malaya in the following February.
