Mr. and Mrs. J. W. Cumming enter- tained a number of friends to celebrate the comlng-ot-age of their daughter. Mil- licent, on January 27, at their residence, Glebe Road, Ipswich. Dancing was en Joyed, and Miss M. L. Griffiths won a balloon dance. Quartets were sung by Messrs. J. Handel, J. Johns, S. Jones, and J. Cumming.

In honour of the approaching marriage of Miss E. M'Intyre and Mr. D. Wenkley, a gift evening was held at the residence of Mr. and Mrs. G. Harris, South Street, Newmarket, on January 27. Musical and elocutionary items were enjoyed, and compétitions were won by Miss E. Reid, Messrs, Knott, sen., and A. Holmans. Mr Harris presented the gifts to the bride elect.

Mr. and Mrs. H. W. Hoey and family have returned to their home In Auchen- flower after six weeks' vacation at Bur- leigh. Miss I. Blue, who has been their guest for the last week, will return to Roma to-day.
