GUMERACHA.

[From a Correspondent]

An inquest was held on Thursday last, the 27th ultimo, before Mr. W. B. Randell, J.P., on the body of John Neal, farmer, of the district of Gumeracha.

The deceased, who was 34 years of age, was a well conducted, industrious man, who had (under God's blessing) attained to his late position by his own industry, and had now got his farm into such a state of improvement, as to encourage the hope of a con- siderable yearly return for many years to come.

It was shown on the inquest that the deceased was fully engaged at his farming operations the whole of the day preceding his death, and up to the time of his retiring to rest (about 9 o'clock) appeared in his usual good health and spirits. About midnight his wife was awoke by his having a rattling noise in his throat; she fearing he was in trouble in dreaming, exerted herself to awake him, but finding no notice taken of her calls, she endeavoured to arouse him by shaking ; but all her efforts being unavailing, she as speedily as possible got a light, when she found to her great surprise and grief that the vital spark had

fled.

He has left his widow (who is far advanced in a state of pregnancy) with five small children, the eldest about 10 .years of age, to lament their loss.

There can be little doubt but the deceased died of apoplexy.

The Jury found that the deceased, John Neal, died by the visitation of God.
