MAN'S STRANGE STORY
Murder at Albury
ADELAIDE, Sunday. - When a man appeared in the Police Court on a charge of vagrancy yesterday the police prose- cutor said that he had gone to a newspaper office and said that he was the murderer of the girl whose body was found at Albury in September. He told the newspaper that he had brought the girl from New Zea- land and that they had been living as man and wife. He said that in a fit of rage he had strangled her. To the police he would neither admit nor deny that he had made the statement to the newspaper. The police wished to establish the man's identity and trace his movements in Aus- tralia.
To the Court the man said that he had a wound in his head and that he could not remember having gone to the news- paper office. He was remanded in custody until May 4.
