CHESS
The moves in the two correspondence games between Mr. Spencer Crakan- thorp, champion of N.S.W., and Mr. Leslie Saunders, Canberra, are given below. In the first game, the "Vienna" opening played by Mr. Crakanthorp gives him a very pretty position, and one fraught with much danger to his opponent, while in the "Ruy Lopez" game, with Mr. Saunders launching the offensive, the defensive moves of the champion give the average chess play- er food for considerable thought. The progress of the games will appear in next Saturday's issue of the "Times."
