CASUALTY LIST CORRECTION TO THE EDITOR OF THE ARGUS.

Sir.—From Tallangatta, under the above       heading in " The Argus" to day Mr H D   Elston questions the acrucacy of the corre-

tion made by the Defence authorities in   the 75th casualty List, referring to his brother Lieutenant Elston. Mr Elston need not be at all worried by the official 'correction " as the list hereunder explains the position fully:—

4th Casualty List—Lieut. W. E. Elston-Miss-ing 40th Casualty List—W. E. Elston— Re- ported prisoner of war at Constantinople being

well treated.

48th. Casualty List.—Lieut. W. E. Elston—Re-     ported prisoner of war at Constantinople (receiv-         ing great kindness from Turkish officers)

4th Casualty List.— Lieut. R. T. A. McDonald.—         Missing

34th. Casualty List.— Lieut. R. T. A. McDonald         —U.S.A Embassy reports — "Prisoner of war at   Constantinople, being well treated"

Casualty List 75. —Corrigenda—Casualty List 48,       page 13 for Lieut, W. E. Elston read Capt. R.

T A McDonald

The result of the so-called "correction " as will be seen was very misleading., conse- quently unnessary, as both Lieutenants   Elston and McDonald had already been officially reported as prisoners of war at   Constantinople.—Yours &c
