MELBOURNE-SYDNEY FLIGHT

SYDNEY, Monday. -By his flight from Sydney to Melbourne and back in a Curtiss biplane Mr W. J. Stutt, of the State Avia- tion school, who made the return journey to-day has established a record as far as Australia is concerned. During his long flight fiom Melbourne to Svdney he made only one stop-at Cootamundra-thus estab-
lishing the long-distance record for Austra- lia. Owing to engine trouble Mr Stutt was compelled to leave at Cootamundra the pas- senger who accompanied him from Mel-
bourne. After leaving Goulburn Mr. Stutt
struck a thunderstorm and was blown a
little way out to sea.
The actual flying time for the trip was 7 hours 10 minutes, or an average of 80 miles per hour, and the highest altitude at-
