COLONIAL SECRETARY'S OFFICE, (No. 16.) SYDNEY, 20th JUNE, 1831.
THE Right Honourable the Lords
Commissioners of His Majesty's Treasury having directed the adoption of an abridged System of Cash Accounts in the Commissariat Department, His Excellency the GOVERNOR has been pleased to order that all Abstracts and Accounts to be paid out of the Military Chest shall, from the 1st day of next month, be furnished to the Commissariat in duplicate, instead of being furnished in triplicate, as at present; and His EX- CELLENCY directs, that the Officers of the several Departments undermen- tioned shall prepare their Abstracts and Accounts accordingly; viz. The Convict Establishments, Carters' Barracks, Female Factory,
Penal and Out Settlements, The Medical Department,
Government Farming and Stock Estab-
lishments,
Gaols and Hulk,
Dock-yard and Marine, The Police,
The Barrack Department.

SYDNEY, JUNE 20,1831.
THE Government being desirous of
entering into Contracts, in future, for all such Works as have hitherto been per- formed by the Department of Public Works, His Excellency the GOVERNOR has been pleased to direct, that Notice to this effect be published, in order that Persons who may be disposed to enter into Contracts at the several Stations may be apprised accordingly.
The Works intended to be performed by Contract will be advertised when re- quired, and will consist of Buildings, Repairs, Drays, Carts, Implements, and
Tools.
Contractors will be required to give security for completing their Work within a certain period.
Persons wishing to obtain more par- ticular information on this subject are requested to apply at this Office.

IT being intended to convert the
Prisoners' Barracks at Newcastle, into an Hospital, Persons disposed to
undertake the Alterations which will be necessary in consequence, are re- quested to transmit their Tenders to this Office at Twelve o'CIock, on Thursday, the Twenty-first of July next, endorsed " Tender for Alteration in Prisoners' Barrack, Newcastle."
Security will be required for the due Performance of the work within a given time ; and before Payment can be made, a survey will be held thereon by a com- petent Board.
A Plan and Specification may be seen on application to the Superintendent of Public Works, at Newcastle, or to the Director of Public Works in Sydney, as well as any other information which may be required.

"IT being intended to erect Barracks, Stabling, and Officers' Quarters for the Mounted Police at Jerry's Plains, and to fence in two Acres of Land for a Garden, as also four Paddocks of thirty Acres each ; Persons disposed to under- take the Work are invited to transmit Tenders to this Office, at Twelve o'CIock on Thursday, the Fourteenth of July next, endorsed " Tender for Barrackis,&c.
at Jerry's Plains."
Security will be required for the due Performance of the Work to the
satisfaction of a Board, to be ap- pointed to survey the same; and the Tender must specify the Names of two Persons willing to enter into a Bond with the Contractor for the completion of the Buildings, &c. within a reasonable time.
A Plan and Specification may be seen n application at the Office of Public Works, Sydney, where any further in- formation may also be obtained.

WHEREAS WILLIAM THOMPSON,
alias GEORGE PHILLIPS, alias
GEORGE GROVES, alias JOHN HAPPY, | alias JOHN LUCKIE, a Runaway from Macquarie Harbour, Van Diemen's Land, and for whose Apprehension a Reward of Fifty Pounds to a Free Man, or a Pardon to a Convict, was offered by the Govern- ment of that Colony, has effected his Es- cape from on Board the Ship "Kains;" NOTICE IS HEREBY GIVEN, that the above Reward of TEN POUNDS will be paid to any Person or Persons who shall apprehend and lodge the said Runaway in any of His Majesty's Jails.
William Thompson, alias George Phil- lips, alias George Groves, alias John Happy, alias John Luckie; 5 feet 5 ½ inches in height ; dark brown hair, ra- ther thin on the top of the head ; dark brown eyes ; dark ruddy complexion ; well formed head ; long and broad nose ; short ears, well formed, and pierced for rings ; masonic emblems on upper right arm ; long scar inside left thumb ; and slight limbs.

MOULD CANDLES.-Persons de
sirous of supplying such quantities of
MOULD CANDLES
as may be required .for the use of this Department for Six Months from the 1st July next, are requested to transmit their Tenders, in writing, to this Office by Twelve o'CIock of Friday next, the 25th In- stant, sealed and endorsed , " Tender of Candles."
The Candles are to be delivered in detail by the Contractor to the several Persons and Establish- ments entitled to receive them, in such quantities as
may be required on the Checks of the Commissariat
Office.
Such as may be required for the Out Stations will be received at the Commissariat Stores, in Sydney packed by the Contractor in boxes of 100 pounds each, at his own expense.
The general conditions of the Contract are the same as those contained in the Commissariat Ad- vertisement, dated 27th October last, and published in the Sydney Gazette throughout the Month of
November following.

containing 1,244 acres, situated within two miles of the town of Liverpool, on the Cabramatta Creek and Bringelly Road, has a chain of ponds passing through it, and is almost entirely enclosed by the fences of the neighbouring proprietors ; viz. Rev. R. Cartwright, Dr. M'Leod, Mr. Hill, Mr. Throsby, Mr. Bunker, and Mr. Guise. It will be divided in- to four allotments, as follow :

Parish of St. Peter,
containing 100 acres, situated on the road from the Cowpastures to Campbell-town, which passes through it. The farms of Mrs. Throsby, and Messrs. Edward Fletcher, John Foley, Edward Shakely, and R. Lack, adjoin this estate, and it is nearly surrounded by their fences.
Half of the annual rent is to be expended in per- manent improvements upon the land, and the other moiety to be paid half-yearly to the Colonial Trea- surer, in money ; or, if the tenant consider it more advantageous, in grain, deliverable at Sydney. In- dividuals are therefore requested to specify in their tenders the actual number of rods of fencing to be erected, or other permanent improvements to be made, during each year ; and the quantity of wheat weighing 60lbs. per bushel, or maize weigh- ing 50lbs. per bushel, to be delivered by them in Sydney, in payment of rent for such lands as they may desire to occupy.
The lease must be paid for by the lessee, and se-
curity given, if required, for due performance of all
the conditions.
