kA T Twclvo o'Clock of Friday, tho J\ 19th day of October next, tho Col-» lector of Internal Revenue will put up to AUCTION, at tho Polico Office, Sydney, the undermentioned portions of LAND, on tho conditions detailed in the Government Order of 1st August, 1831, No. 22.
The Land will bo put up at the prices respectivelyslated, and the highest bidder ?of those Sums, or upwards (if free), will he declared the purchaser.
But, before the bidding is accepted, tho party will be required to pay down a deposit of ten per cent, on tho amount' of the purchase-money, and to sign an «ngagement to pay tho balance within one calendar month, under penalty of forfeiting both the deposit and the land.
If pa)ment be not made within the prescribed period, the deposit will be forfeited accordingly, and the land will bel again open lo the selection of tho public.
The land disposed of under these re- gulations will bo held in free and com- mon soccage, subject to the nominal quit rent of a pepper-corn, and under the usual reservations regardiríg the con- struction of ways and bridges, indigenous timber, and other materials for ways and bridges, and mines of coals and of precious

Contract for the Tunnel
THE Proprietors of the Argyle-street
Company, are desirous of contracting with any Person or Persons for the formation of an opening through the ridge of Rock intersecting Argyle-street, and for the erection of Two Bridges over such opening at Cumberland-street and Prince street, according to a Plan which has received the approbation of the Surveyor General on the part of the Government. The Contractor will be allowed to draw such Powder from the Public Store as may be required for the Work, on paying the cash price to the Government as it is issued from the Maga- zine ; also the services of fifteen Mechanics and thirty Labourers, who will be provided with the usual Ration at the expense of the Company, and the benefit arising from the sale of the stone.
The Contractor will be required to give satis- factory security to the Company for the performance of the Work, within twelve Months from its com- mencement ; also to indemnify the Company against any loss or damage by accident, during the progress of the Work. - Two-thirds of the sum contracted for will be paid by monthly instalments, upon the certificate of the Surveyor, and the remainder upon the completion of the Work, on the Contractor obtaining the certificate of the Surveyor General that the Work is completed according to'the original Plan.
A specification and working drawing may be seen ot the Office of Mr. EDWARD HALLEN, Archi- tect, Kent-street, who will give any further infor- mation required.
