said that the Canberra Y.W.C.A, hüd fought a good fight under difficult con- ditions and had kept the faith which linked them together as on organisa- tion. This had been possible because of tho staunch loyalty of the women on the board ond committees and thr Girls' Council, which had given of their money, time and talents in main- taining h full year's programme do spite many claims on their time.

A summary of activities revealed that the membership was 272 while 3Í15 women and girls were enrolled in clubs, sports, classes and Y.Y. effi- ciency tests, Tho Membership Com- mittee had organised during the ycai

The War-time Auxiliary continued knitting of socks and pullovers for men in the Services which resulted in 93 pairs of socks and 43 pullovers be- ing sent to the Australian Comfo:ts Fund during the year. To tho library 101 new books, in- cluding many best sellers have been udded and 750 books aro now in cir- culation. Through the year approxi- mately 250 books were exchanged weekly. The committee took over and catalogued the Grant Memorial collec- tion of 132 books. There have been regular working bees for stocktaking and repairing books.

The outstanding event of the ycai was tho opening of Leave House on December 12, 1942, by Her Excellency the Lady Gowrie. The Girls* Council has met monthly for toa and book discussion, followed by a business meeting.' This group has hostessed teen age dances, a con- cert and a most happy party in com- memoration of Mothers' Dav. . They have also been responsible for some enjoyable entertainments in tho Y.Y. Hospitality Centre. They donated £8 15/3 to general funds.

ing last night was the largest on io-j cord. The president (Mrs. Dawson) welcomed Mrs. R. J. Lyons, president of the N.S.W. regional committee for war. services of the Y.W.CA.

Mrs. Dawson was re-elected presi- dent and Mrs. T. C. Davis was elected patroness of the association. The elec- tion of directors resulted in Mesdames C. A. Berendson, W. J. Dakin and A. W. Edwards being added to the board while Mesdames G. L. Beobe, A. Bird, J. Brack, C. S. Daley, R. Fry, T. G. Marshall, H. Raggatt, C. S. Robertson
