British Spy Tells Of Shooting of
Officers by Nazis
HAMBURG, Wednesday.
Colonel Scotland, a British officer
who spent a good part of the war serving in the German Army on be-
half of British Intelligence, said at the Stalag Luft trial that he had statements from the accused describ- ing how the Germans shot four offi- cers, including an Australian, Squad- ron-Leader Catanach, and a New Zealander, Flight-Lieutenant Chris-
tensen.
The officers were chained and
driven off in a motor car and shot in a lonely spot.
One of the Germans, Oskar Schmidt, said in his statement that he was threatened with death and dishonour for his family if he failed to carry out Berlin's order to kill
the officers.
