BROOME NEWS.
ATTACK BY THE NATIVES AT KING
SOUND.
A WHITE MAN SPEARED.
[BY TELEGRAPH.]
(FROM OUR CORRESPONDENT.)
BROOME, May 14.
At a place known as the Grave Yard, near the entrance of King Sound, a party of two white men, with five natives as rowers, landed in a whale boat from a lugger owned by Capt. Hilliard and Mr. Bors, engaged in the bêche-de-mer trade and pearling. They were attacked by the natives. One lot speared Bors, and a second lot tried to cut off the boat, but the other white man, Hatch, fired his revolver and frightened them off. Bors has been brought to Broome, and Ís recover- ing. Another logger brings news from Bald- win Creek that another white man named Henry Hunter has also been speared, but not dangerously. The attack is said to have been made near tbe entrance of King Sound. The reason is not known, but the attack on the whale boat was unprovoked, and was for plunder. These are the same tribes who murdered Mr. Shenton and Capt. Peyton some
years ago.
