APPOINTMENTS. -The following appointments in the Post and Telegragh Department havo been approved :-J. T. Davies, line repairer, to be line repairer in charge ; and F. B. Edwards, G. S. Gaylor, J. H. Jones, A Fowles, D. Moran, and 0. T. Perry, to bo operators. The other appointments notified are- A. Dorsey, clerk of petty sessions at Bowen, to be Regis- trar of the Northern District Court at that place in tho room of G. B. Glenny, transferred; T. J. Franklin, to be sheriff's bailiff, under the provisions of the Sheriff's Act of 1875, at Isisford; J. B. Baxter, to be bailiff of the Northern District Court at Normanton ; P. P. Hoczknccht, to be bailiff of Small Debts Court at Jericho ; J. Raff, to bo a trustee of the reserve for cemetery, in tho £ arish of Stanthorpe, in the room of John

.avidson, resigned : J. M. Knox, to be a mem- ber for subdivision No. 2 of the Hinchinbrook division, no candidate having been nominated for a vacancy on the boam; A. Marks, as Japanese consul, residing in Melbourne, for Queensland, New South Wales, Victoria, and Tasmania ; J. Miller, to bo a member of tho Banana Marsupial Board, in the room of F. W. Wright, resigned ; and T. Fairbairn, to be a member of the Belyando Marsupial Board, in the room of W. E. Casey, resigned. DEPARTMENT OF POBLIC INSTRUCTION. Promotions and transfers of teachers in the ser- vice of the Department of Public Instruction : A. J. Briggs, to be head teacher at Yengarie ; Priscilla Dodson, to bo second assistant teacher for girls and infants at Gympie, One mile; P. J. M'Dermott to be first assistant teacher in the Albert State school, Mary- borough.

DEFENCE FORCE.-S. G. Hill, to be an act- ing sub-lieutenant in the Marine Defence Force ; Surgeon J. Ahearne. L.R.C.P., &c, to be surgeon-major in the Defence Force, with the relative rank' of major, and to be also principal medical officer for the Northern mili- tary district: P.A. O'Sullivan and F. Riechel- mann to be lieutenants in the Defence Force ;

RESERVES. - The following reserves havo boen temporarily proclaimed :-100 acres, on Coppermine Orcok, Marlborough, reservo for a polico paddock ; 148 acres on tho Mary River, for rafting and camping, in tho parish of Glenbar; Ö acres in tho Leichhardt district,

reserve for water.

FORFEITED SELECTIONS.-Several selections in the St. Lawrence, Mackay, Roma, Ipswich, and Ingham land agents' districts have been declared forfeited.
