Synopsis.

It is more or less cloudy- in Victoria and Tasmania, also in the coastal dis- tricts of New South Walè3. Over the Northern Territory and In Central Aus- tralia the conditions are cloudy to show- ery, and heavy rain lias been regis- tered there in connection with thunder- storms. Cloudy Weather obtains iu New Caledonia, while over tho south- ern half of New Zealand it is squally and showery. Queensland.

Our reports from the northern division of the colony aro not yet to hand. Over the central and southern divisions the weather this morning is generally unsettled and cloudy, with rain and squalls along the coast. The storm " Bllne" has made con- siderable northing since yeaterday, and the weather in the extreme south-east ha» somewhat moderated. Rain has bean re- corded in seaboard districts ; also in parts of the central districts. Rough to high seas still obtain south from the tropic.

Extreme temperatures.-North : In- complete. Central : lOideg. at Tangorin and Winton, 6Gdeg. at Emerald. South : 99deg. at Windorah, C9deg. at Wallangarra. The anemometer this morning at Ca- pemba shows that the wind has travelled 306 miles during the last twenty-four hours.

Albany.

Northern Territory and Central Aus- tralia.-Heavy monsooual thunderstorms and local rains. Hough seas between Tort Darwin and Torres Straits.

South Australia. - Intensely hot. Heavy dnstetorniH will follow, and thereafter a pool chango. Rising seas. Vessels bound west will meet disturb- ance " Zavan."

Queensland : North, Central, and South.-Local squalls, thunderstorms,

great heat, and capricious rain inland. I Dangerous conditions and rain along '

ihe coast between Townsville and Rock- hampton, under the influence of the storm " Ellne." Squally and unsettled also in southern coast districts. Rain over the Peninsula. High seas over rfie storm'area.

New South Wales.-Generally cloudy and unsettled, with great mousoonal heat in the west and north-west. Con- ditions temporarily moderating in the north-east, owing to "Eline" having made northing. Sea moderate. Winds

variable.

Victoria.-Intense and most trying heat, with north-east winds. A cool change within two days, followed by rain and antarctic squalls.

Tasmania.-Generally flue and hot. The storm " Zavan" will pass over shortly.

New Zealand.-'Very squally south from Wellington, under the influence of the antarctic disturbance " Vaubon."

New Caledonia and Loyalty Islands. -Cloudy and showery.

Special Note.-The centre of the tropi- cal storm "Elide" is 200 miles eiist from Bowen ; very dangerous. The antarctic storm " Zavan" is 400 miles south-south-cast from Albany. Ship- ping specially advised of these two

storms.
