DOMESTIC INTELLIGENCE

IPSWICH

(From our Correspondent.)

WE have been greatly distinguished amongst all the towns of the colony, hy being- made the first possessors of a Cosmoramio Exhibition. Our townsman, Mr. Hazeltou, has persevered'a long time, against serious hindrances, and at laBt suc- ceeded in giving us a beautiful, and truth I al representation uf that miracle of Art, the Oreat Exhibition of the Industry of nil nations, i was privileged to make my*eif -.pretty familiar with the original, and, having carefully examined the Ipswich Cosmorama, I can vouch tor the faithful- ness of the imitation. None but an experienced artidt, which Mr. Hazleton is, could have succeed- ed in attaining the perfection »hieb he has. When the' very great difficulty of imparting this latest invention of mecbuuicat ingenuity, and its peculiar adaptation to interest, amuse, and instruct the minds of those who hare long been, or always been, unfamiliar »ith the splendid monument3 of civilized Europe, are duly considered, it must be seen that a great boun has been conferred upon the population.

And when it is remembered at what cost, in money and time, every person in the world «ho could manage a trip'to London hurried to see the Gruat Exhibition, and how it surpassed the drenms of all trie six million persons who paid their entrance money to see it, it must be con- tested that the contriver of our Ipswich Coamor ama has not erred in the selection of a subject. 1 am confident that none who wait it, will consider their money thrown away.

On Monday, John Clune, publican of Ipswich, was brought before the Bench of Magistrates, on a charge of feloniously assaulting William H. Collard, painter, by striking him several blows on the head and body with clenched fists, on the 19th of April last, at the Shearer's Arms, and in Nicholas-street, Ipswich. Jane Clune, also, wife of the above, on a charge of aggravated assault upon the same person on the same day. Both were committed to take their trial at the assizes next week in Brisbane.

With them was committed to take his trial for a like offence, at the sime time, upon the person of John Clune, Matthew Stewart, publican, of

Brisbane.

John Alldgett, servant in the employ of Mr. Clune, was brought up on the same charge as his master, but acquitted. I much regret that I can - not publish the evidence, on account of its extreme length. But of course, the case will appear again   in your columns in the reporta of the Brisbane

Assizes.
