COUSINS DROWNED.
Early Morning Accident.
PERTH, Monday - Two cousins, Charles Byfield, aged 40 years, labourer, of Mahogany Creek,
and Herbert Byfield, aged 22 years, horse-driver, of Mundaring, were drowned in Darkan River, nine miles from Mundaring, at 3 o'clock yesterday morning in 10ft of water. They were members of a shooting party that left Mundaring on the previous evening, and with a friend, Norman Scaler, camped on the river bank away from the others.
At 3 o clock in the morning, Scaler shouted that the younger of the Byfields was drowning. When other men reached the bank, both of the Byfields had disappeared. The bodies were recovered. It is supposed that one fell
into the river, and that the other dived in to rescue him
