In presenting tho eighth annual bttanco.hcot your directors havo much plcasuro la stating that during tho past year tho business of the society has been of a satisfactory and proQtablo character.

Upwards of £18,000 has been advanced in that Eorlod upon first class proponles Tho contributions y the borrowers In almost every iuBtanco have bcoa kept up with prompt regularity, which Is ovldonced by the'small amount of repayments and fines In arroars, as shown in the accompanying balanco-sheet.

The amount now standing to the credit of depositors Is £34,123 14B. 3d., and is considerably undor tho amount authorised by tho Act of Parliament. Tbo present rates of interest allowed for deposits being less than those allowed In previous years will provo an additional source of profit to tbo society during the

current year.

Your directors can report most favourably of tho *? Foreclosed Properties Account," No property has been foreclosed upon during the past financial year, whilst the account has boen reduced by nearly £400,

at a loss of under £60.

The numbor of shares In foreo Is 8082 8-5, which are bold by 090 members, of whom 401 are investing mem- bers and 208 borrowing members. Tho numbor of depositors is 250.

Slnco May the operations of the socloty havo been carried on under the now rules, which your diroctors aro confident will work most advantageously both to tho society and to the membors.

The gross profits for the year amount to £8,077 09, Tho Interest paid and accrued to depositors absorbs £3,287 11s. 7d., the managomont and working ex- penses of tho Bocloty £1,846 11s. 6d , and the loss on the sale of foreclosed properties £50 8s. Od., loavlng a sum of £3,38714s. 3d. available, which has boen dis- posed of a.follows: -

£2,81810s. lOd. credited to Investing shareholders,

being tbo usual rate of 0 per cent, compound Interest, and making a total ot £30,030 15s. Od. now standing to thulr credit.

£454 12s. Od. added to tho reservo fund, thus

giving additional Btabillty to the society by providing for any contingencies which may

arise

£114 Is Sd. carried to credit of profit and loss

for present year.

Borrow era are essential to tho continued prosperity ot the socloty, and jour directors would suggest that the members individually should mako known to their friends the many advantages to bo gained by Joining

the society.

Hie new rules having reduced tho numbor of direc- tors frum nillo to seven, those In ofilce bave resigned, and Hie following havo been duly nominated : Messrs. M'Lcan, Oldfield, Tux, Kitchin, Blackwoll, M'Kay, Hodgson, and Spink, and the members will

have lo elect seton of tho gentlemon to form the now

board of directors.
