This morning, at an Examination before Richard Atkins, Esq. Judge Advocate,
John Donnely stood charged by his Master with having obtained meat from a butcher in his name, and converting it to his own private purposes. The complaint was made in con- sequence of his insolence when accused ; and, as he conducted himself with similar impro- priety before the Judge Advocate, was com- mitted to prison.
John Gee, a prisoner lately landed from the Glatton, and put in care of the Government Windmill, stood charged with having made
away with 6 bushels of Wheat, entrusted to him by private individual, and of which, as he could, give no account, he was remanded
for further examination.
Moses Roach was again brought up for examination, on a violent suspicion of rob- bing James Sparks of Wearing Apparrel, &c.
but as there was not sufficient evidence to prove the fact, and anotner charge had been
exhibited against him, he was committed to
the Gaol gang as a vagrant.
His Excellency having granted his Per- mission to H. Kable , to run a Common Stage Machine from Sydney to Parramatta and Hawkesbury, the Undertaking will be accom- plished about the middle of July ; and, should the contest between Profit and Loss deter- mine in its favour, the plan will he found of much public benefit and utility.
On Friday or Saturday next, should the tide serve, the vesel built in Underwood's Yard will be knocked off the stocks, and af- terwards diligently fitted out for the oil and
fur trade.
An old man who by dint of manual in- dustry erected himself a small hut in Pitt's Row, on Monday last went into the Woods to split shingles and paling, leaving in charge of his little cabin and 18 or 19 bushels of maize, a labouring man, to whom he gave house room. The ingrate, however, betray- ed his trust, and when tne poor man returned on Friday night, he found neither his lodger nor his corn, wnich had been openly hawked
and sold in his absence.
