Weekly Occurrences.

On Sunday evening last, a fire broke out in the Dwelling of Bryan Egan, at Hawkesbury, by which the whole of the Premises were consumed, together with the household furniture and a quantity of corn.

On Monday last, Mr. Good, Botanist belonging- to His Majesty's ship Investigator, and who died the preceding day on board

that ship, was brought on shore for inter-

ment. A number of Officers attended in

procession to the place of burial, where, after the funeral ceremonies were performed, a party of marines fired three vollies over the grave.

Yesterday, at an Examination before the Magistrates, Isaac Farmer, labourer, who was some time since committed from the Hawkes- bury. for having violently assaulted and stab- bed a man who has since recovered, was re- turned to that Settlement, to be disposed of by

the Magistrate as the nature of the case re-

quired.

The following curious detection lately took place at Parramatta : A person went with a pair of boots into a shop, request-     ing they might be exchanged for a size smaller. On examination they proved to be odd fellows, and the shop-keeper recol- lecting his having a pair of the same de-

scription, compared and matched them     verbally. They had been obtained by a gentleman's servant under a pretence that his master wished to try them, but the trader recollected that the fellow had returned two boots short of the complement he had taken away, and which were now inadvertently returned. The affair being represented to the Magistrates, a corporal punishment was awarded, and thus the odd business termi-

nated.

On Friday evening, a couple of Cyprians anxiously endeavouring by flight to elude the

vigilance of a watchman, inadvertently took shelter in an open well on the Rocks, which fortunately happened to be only chin-deep water. Their sudden disappearance, though it somewhat astonished the pursuer, yet abated not his ardour, until, by adhering to his pri- mitive design of following them go where they would, he also pitched headlong into the

resevoir, where all parties remained, until by

        vociferous exertion they obtained assistance.

Persons who inhabit that part of the Rocks would do well to consider of the impropriety of suffering this well to remain uncovered;    for while to them it may be of much utility yet to the Public it must be considered a dan-

gerous nuisance.
