the LIEUTENANT GOVERNOR, for the hu- mane assistance he was pleased to afford him on the recent event of fire, by commanding that a Party of the Guard should attend for the protection and preservation of his pro- perty ; and to the exertions of whom he al- so acknowledges the highest sence of obliga-
tion.
To Lieutenant TUCKER of His Majesty's Ship Calcutta, he likewise offers his grateful thanks for the very considerable assistance be he received on the occasion from the Party of
that Ship's Company who were then on shore under that Gentleman's Command ; and to whose unabated exertions he is peculiarly in-
debted.
To the Officers of the B..fy, and also to the whole oí the seamenn belonging to that Vessel, he requests the acceptance of his warm- est thanks, for the alacrity with which they humanely interposed their assistance in the moment of extreme emergency.
And finally to the inhabitants in general who were present on the occasion, he acknow- ledges an everlasting gratitude, for the so- licitud which prevailed on all sides effec- tually to suppress the flame, which by their joint exertions was soon happily effected
