POSTSCRIPT
On Friday afternoon HIS EXCELLENCY took water for Parramatta ; and returned to
town yesterday evening.
The unfortunate accident that happened to the Lady Barlow was chiefly owing to the sudden change of wind : the direction it blew from at first forced the ship between the two mooring chains, which so girded her that she could not quickly veer to the wind ; and before the chains could be wore away she heeled so very considerably, that a great quantity of oil and other weighty articles flying to leeward, she was instantly
overset.
We learn that the Settlement and neigh- bourhood of Hawkesbury almost wholly escaped the violent storm on Tuesday last, its extreme seventy apparently confining itself to this part oí the Colony. Several gardens were totally washed away by the prodigious influx of the water, which poured in torrents, leaving behind nothing
but a vacant waste.
Tim Macnamara, stockman to Mr. H. Kable, yesterday underwent an examination, and was sentenced, for repeated negligence, to receive a severe corporal punishment ; but which at the intercession of his master, and his own promises to amend his conduit, was
remitted.
And Lawrence Carroll received a corporal punishment for neglect of work.
