SYDNEY GAZETTE,
At eleven o'clock on Wednesday last His Excellency Governor King, accom- panied by Governor BLIGH, reviewed the New South Wales Corps, on their Parade; after which Governor KING took a public leave of the Officers and Soldiers of that Corps by a General Order.-After taking some refreshment at Major JOHNSTON'S Quarters, Their
Excellencies returned to Government House; where Governor King resigned the Executive Authority to his Suc- cessor : After which Governor KING, with Governor BLIGH, accompanied by
all the Commissioned Officers of the Civil Department and other respectable Inha- bitants, passed to the Government Wharf
the passage to which was lined by the New South Wales Corps and Sydney Loyal Association, paying Military Ho- nours to Governor King, which were repeated on Governor Bligh's repassing the line, aftertaking leave of Governor KING at the Wharf; on whose entering the boat a salute of 19 guns was fired from the Fort, & repeated by His Majesty's ship Purpoise, with the Sinclair, Fortune, and other vessels ; and on going on board the Buffalo he was saluted by that ship with 15 guns, and three cheers from ship's company, who had previously manned the
yards-the Inhabitants on shore cheering
at the same time.
The ceremony of His Excellency Go- vernor BLIGH'S Commission being read immediately followed, in front of Govern- ment House, where the Military were drawn up, with the Civil Department
and Inhabitants.
After His EXCELLENCY had taken the Oaths, he addressed the Inhabitants in a short but impressive speech, which was
received by the spectators with three cheers ; when the New South Wales Corps fired three rounds, the Battery sa- luted with 19 guns, which His Majesty's ships Buffalo and Purpoise, with the Sin- clair, Fortune, and other vessels repeated with 15 guns each.
On Thursday morning Major Johnston, with Richard Atkins and John McArthur Esqrs. on the behalf of the Military,
Civil, and Inhabitants, went on board the Buffalo, when they presented an Address to the late Governor KING ; and upon
re-landing proceeded to Government House, where they had an audience, and presented an Address to His EXCELLENCY Governor BLIGH : which Addresses, with their respective Answers, are contained in the preceding columns of this Gazette.
