The committee desire to return their thames to tne public in general, more particularly the inhabitants of Maitland, for the generous and willing manner m which they have come forward during the past year, and assisted the Hospital, to an extent which has placed ita. funds in a most healthy state. The com- mittee desire to call attention to the liberal subscrip- tion of £2615s. from Mr. A. Loder, of Liverpool Plains, and which deserves the thanks of the community. The committee would remarle that Mr. Loders generous act entitles him. to a life-membership of the institution.
The application of the committee to the Government, to cause the sum of ¿500 to be placed on the estimates for. the present year, on condition of an equal amount being raised by private contributions, and the sum of

JOHN BUTLER, Wholesale and Retail
Storekeeper, not t? be behindhand with his brethren, bega leave most respectfully to advise his friends and the public that he bas removed from his old stores to his own newly erected premises, in front of Nicholson's Steam Mills, and nearly adjacent to the Northumberland Hotel,
HIGH-STREET, WEST MAITLAND.
The greatest difficulty encountered by J. B. hitherto was from insufficient store room, whereby much of his stock was hidden from inspection, and he was deterred in a great mea- sure from embarking in trade as largely as he could have wished, to enable him to give satis-
faction to his constituents.
JOHN BUTLER,
Now submits a rapid sketch of his Stock for the publie perusal, premising that all is of the best quality, and calculated to induce patronage :

And, in fact, Groceries and Oilman's Stores of
the very best description.
SADDLERY,
Ironmongery, Crockery, Hollow-ware, Drapery,
and sundries too tedious to particularise.
JOHN BUTLER, in calling attention to the above, solicits patronage as a young beginner, and pledges himself so to conduct his business
that it will be as much the interest of the public to deal with him as it will be on his part to devote his energies in their service. The present period above all others renders it judi- cious to advertise, as it is well known importers are losing money, and that goods, judiciously selected for cash in Sydney, can actually be sup- plied in Maitland almost at
LONDON COST !
John Butler can as yet refer with pride to his present trade-outstripping in some measure some of his older competitors. This has only been accomplished by purchasing well and cheaply-selling at a very small profit, com- bining both with civility and attention to all classes of purchasers. By this system he trusts still further to merit the esteem of his sup- porters.

THE FAR-FAMED MEDICINE»
Holloway'« pills.
SURPRISING CURE of a confirmed Asthma
after five yea«' Buffering. ' '
The following testimonial has been sent to Pro- fessor Holloway by a gentleman named Mid- dleton, of Scotland-road, Liverpool.
Sir»-Your Pills have been the means, under Providence, of restoring me to sound health, after five years of severe affliction. During the whole of that period I suffered the moat dresdul. attacks of asthma, frequently of several weeks' dnration, attended with a violent cough, and continued spitting of phlegm, intermixed with blood. This so shook my constitution that»I was uu fitted for any of the active duties of life; I was attended by some of the most eminent medical men of this town, but they failed to give me the slightest relief. As a last remedy I tried your Pills, and in about three months they effected a perfect oura of the disease, totally eradicating the cough, and restored tone and vigour to the chest and digestive organs. I am, sir, yonr obedient servant, ,

Dear Sir-In this district your Pills oom« mand a more extensive sale than any other pro- prietary medicine before the public. As a proof of their efficacy in liver and bilious complaints I may mention the following case :-A lady of this town, with whom I am personally acquaint*!, for years wob a severe sufferer from disease of the liver and digestive organs; her medies! attendant asBured her that he could do nothing1 to relieve her sufferings, and it was not likely she could survive many months. This announce- ment naturally caused great alarm among her friends and relations, and they induced her to make a trial of your Pilla, which bo improved her general health that she was induced to con- tinue them until she received a perfect oura. This ia twelve months ago, and she has not ex- perienced any symptoms of relapse, and often declares that your Pills have been the means of saving her life.-I remain, dear sir, yonn truly

AN ASTONISHING CURB OF CHRONIC RHEUMATISM,
AFTER BEING DISCHARGED FROM THE HOSPITAL

Copy of a letter from Mr. W. Moon, of the
Square, Winchester, To Professor Holloway.
Sir-I beg to inform you that for years I wm a sufferer from chronic rheumatism, and was often laid up for weeks together by its severe and painful attacks. I tried everything that was recommended, and was attended by one of the most eminent surgeons in this town ; bofe obtained no relief whatever, and fearing that my health would be entirely broken np, I was induced to go into our county hospital, where I had the best medical treatment the institution afforded, all of which proved of no avail, and I came oat no better than. I went in, I was then . advised to try your PilU, and by persevering with them was perfectly cured, and enabled to resume my occupation, and although . consider- able period has elapsed, I have felt no return whatever of the complaint.-I am, sir, your obliged servant,

Copy of a letter from Mr. G. Briggs, Chemist,
Goole, dated February, 15th, 1858. To Professor Holloway.
Sir-I have much pleasure in informing yon of a most surprising cure of dropsy, recently effected by your valuable medicines. Captain Jackson, of this place, was afflicted with dropsy for upwards of eighteen months, to anch an ex- tent that it caused his body and limbs to be mnch swollen, and water oozed as it were from his skin, so that a daily change of apparel became necessary ; notwithstanding the various remedies tried, and the different medical men consulted, all was of no avail, until he com- menced using your Pills, by which, and a strict attention to the printed directions, he was effec- tually cured, and his health perfectly re-estab- lished. If you deem this worthy of publicity you are at liberty to use it.-I am, sir, yours respectfully,
