THE SUCCESS OF MODERATE PRICES has
been strikingly evidenced in the large and still in- creasing patronage which, notwithstanding the depres- sion of trade, has been awarded to the New Papers. The ADYERTISER is now established as a medium, second to none in the colony, for the publication of every descrip ion of business and general notices, a fact which most in a great measure be attributed to the Reduced Scale of Charges adopted at the outset" and still adhered to. The Advertiser being found in every place of public re- sort, cannot be surpassed as an organ of public informa- tion, whikt its exceedingly liberal tariff of charges gives it an'advantage especially and exclusively its own.
The following is the exceedingly moderate SCALE of CHARGES for ADVERTISEMENTS in the "SOUTH AUSTRALIAN ADVERTISER":
ONE INSERTION.
«i Two lines . One Shilling
Three lines . One and Fourpence Four lines . One and Sixpence
Five lines . One and Ninepence Sixlines . Two Shillings
[ {And Twopence additional for each succeeding line.
SCALE OF DISCOUNTS.
Three and Four Insertions ... 10 per cent. Five Insertions . 15 per cent. One Week .20 per cent. A Fortnight.80 per cent. One Month .40 per cent. Two Months.50 per cent. Three Months.60 per cent.
The WEEKLY CHRONICLE is now recognised through- out the country districts as one of the most important advertiiing mediums. The most cursory glance at the admtisoments of the Chronicle will convince of the truth of this statement. Country Storekeepers, auc- tioneers, farmers, stockbreeders, and others, will effect a great saving by availing themselves of this channel of information. To Horticultural and Agricultural Socie- ties,-Sporting Committees, and others requiring long announcements, the reduction will be of considerable im- portance. District Councils, and all others required by law to advertise notices of their intended proceedings, will also effect material saving by availing themselves of the
WEEKLY CHRONICLE.
CHARGE FOR ONE INSERTION.
SIXPENCE per line for the first Sir Linos, Fourpenoe per line afterwards.
Liberal Discounts for numerous insertions.

TO COUNTRY SETTLERS, DISTRICT COUN
CILS, AND OTHERS.-The SOTJTH AUSTRALIAN WEEKLY CHRONICLE is now circulated in all parts of the oolosy and affords an excellent medium for any kind of counte? announcement. The Scale of Charges is con- siderably reduced below the rates of the contemporary ness whUstthe extent of its Advertising connexion is the bett proof of the estimation in which the WEEKLY CHTOMCLE is held by the public. THE MOCHATOONA COPPER MINING COM-
PANY.-The number and extent of applications for Shares in this Company are highly satisfactory. The numerous daily enquiries have suggested the publication of the following particulars in addition to those included in the preliminary prospectus. The Mochatoona is the native name of the locality, the mineral riches of which were discovered by Mr. James Trestrail, who, after de- voting several weeks to the work of exploration and tocal examination, wa3 accompanied by Mi\ Joseph Curnow ; and further research being fully confirmatory of first impressions produced by the obvious mineral wealth of the land, a joint application to the Government was determined on. The recent discoveries of coal of approved quality in the neighboring provin es will not only encourage the formation of smelting establishments at Port Augusta, but facilitate direct shipments and the economical transmission of metallic copper and copper ores of high per contage to" Port Adelaide and the chief ports of other colonies. Applications for shares, addresá'-d to the undersigned, will be duly entered and acknowledged at an early date.

TO WILLIAM HENRY MATUEIN, ESQ.-Dear
Sir-We have heard with much concern that you and Mrs. Maturin with your family are about to leave South Australia on a visit to Europe for a long period, perhaps for ever, and wo cannot allow you to depart without expressing our regret at losing you.
We have many of us known you dxu-ing the entire period of your residence in this colony, some of us for a shorter period. During your sojourn amongst us you have filled several important offices in the public service here, and we have seen you discharge the various duties entrusted to you with fidelity, zeal and efficiency, with good feeling and gentlemanly bearing. We rsgre't to lose you for the sake of the colony ; we regret to lose you for our own sakes, for some amongst us have learned to value your friendship and to esteem you for your many amiable qualities. As, however, you leave ua to return to active duties in Her Majesty's service we hope that the loss may be ours only, that the step you are about to take may bo for your permanent advantage, and that the qualities which have secured to you the general esteem and respect of the colonists will secure your speedy promotion in Her Majesty's service.
Wishing you and yours a prosperous voyage and every happiness in this iifo and that which is to come,
We are, dear Sir,
Yours faithfully and affectionately, Augustus Adelaide John Watts

To the Lord Bishop of Adelaide, the Chief Justice, and
other Gentlemen who have signed the address.
Gentlemen-Allow me to thank you very cordially for the evidence contained in the address I have just re- ceived of the good-will entertained towards me by my South Australian friends.
It is indeed most gratifying to me to receive from the numerous body of gentlemen whose names are attached to this address, so pleasing a proof that I have not un- successfully striven in my humóle sphere, during my residence in this colony, to do my duty in public and private life. I may say, gentlemen, with pardonable pride, that the favourable feelings now expressed do not come upon me with the force of novelty, for I have ex- perienced their existence during many years in the sup- port and encouragement which have been invariably ex- tended to me in conducting any public duties in which I have been engaged, and in the cordial and uninter- rupted friendship which has subsisted between myself and many whose names I see here.
But, Gentlemen, while this conviction is duly im- pressed upon my own heart, it will be very gratifying, not to myself alone, but to many who are near and dear to me, to possess also the record I now hold in my hand. Be assured, Gentlemen, that Mrs. Maturin and myself leave you and South Australia with much regret ; but we look forward with hope to return and end our days here, and to establish our children in this prosperous and happy country. Reciprocating to the fullest extent the kindly sentiments you express towards me,
I remain, Gentlemen, with respect and esteem,
Your attached friend,
W. H. MATÜRIN. Adelaide, April 29, 1859.
