GIFTS AT SINGAPORE

When Singapore fell the Japanese seized all stocks of the Australian Comforts Fund, and would not per-
mit ACF activities to continue in, any way in gaols where Australians were imprisoned, Mr Charles Rees, ACF Honorary Commissioner with the 8th Division, who spent three and a half years in Selerang and Changi gaols, said this when he arrived at Labuan with 96 libe- rated Australians by RAAF planes
from Singapore.
When he volunteered to go to Malaya with the 8th Division Mr Rees was shire president at Swan Hill. Aged 57, he served as a major
in the 1914-18 war.
