On Wednesday night an attempt was rnade
to break into the dwelling-house of Mr. H.
Kable, who was then at Hawkesbury ; but
from the noise at the window, the family
was alarmed, and the villains compelled to
abandon their project. One of the windows
was broke close to tne place at which it was
secured, and time appeared all that was want
ing to accomplish the premeditated design.
Though this attempt may have failed in its
execution, yet it may serve as a caution to
persons in general against a negligent method
of providing for their nocturnal security, and
precluding themselves from the possibility of
an unwelcome visit.
