Dear MaurieThank you very much for bringing the poor quality of this page to our attention. The Australian Newspapers Service is creating the digital images that you see in the Service from microfilm copies of the original newspapers. The quality of the newspaper page images are dependent upon both a good quality microfilm as well as a good quality original newspaper page. In this case it appears that there may have been a problem with poor printing of this newspaper page originally - as both the previous and following page are readable. An alternative way of accessing this newspaper page would be to use the microfilm of The Argus at your local public library.I do apologise that we are unable to offer you a better quality page in this instance.Kind regardsCathyCathy PilgrimDirectorDigitisation and Photography BranchNational Library of AustraliaCANBERRA ACT 2600
