celebrated their fortieth anniversary by a
picnic at Torquay yesterday. There were
several visitors from country fire brigades pre-
sent, and a very enjoyable day was passed at
the seaside.

On Thursday the councillors of the
borough of Sebastopol were entertained at
a picnic at Torquay by Councillor C. W.
Dickins, mayor of Geelong West. The
visitors were driven in drags to Torquay,
where a cricket match was played, and won
by Sebastopol by 18 run. The scores were:

GEELONG. — The fifth round of the Beaurepaire
cup competition for the Geelong and district life-
saving clubs was conducted on the Torquay Beach
on Sunday and resulted: Rippleside, march past
and land work, 35; water work, 49; total, 84 points.
1: 23rd Battallion and Citizens, 36 and 42, total
68; Torquay, 33 and 26, total 59. Rippleside has
now won four of the five events, and is practically
assured of winning the cup.
