Archbishop Mannix preached to a
crowded congregation at the cathedral of
the Sacred Heart on Sunday evening. On
Monday evening he will deliver a lecture at
St. Killian's Hall.
While playing football near the New
Prince of Wales' mine on Friday, Norman
Ah Loong, 14 years of age, fell in a collision
with another boy, and struck a stone
heavily. His liver was ruptured, and he
died from hemorrhage while being brought
in to the Bendigo Hospital on Saturday.
At the inquest a verdict of accidental death
was recorded.

A one-armed man named Konrad Prumer
was sentenced to seven days' imprisonment
bv the city Bench on Tuesday, for having

on the mouth, knocking out two teeth, and
loosening three others. Eight stitches had
to be inserted in his lip.
At the County Court on Tuesday, before
Judge Moule, Thomas Treloar was found
guilty of the larcency of slimes from Leggo's
metallurgical works at California Gully, but
John Hicks, who was charged with him, was
acquitted. Thomas Scott and Norman
Layton were found not guilty on a charge of
