Stealing Deeds. - Anthony Hood who was
committed for trial on a previous occasion on
the charge of stealing title deeds from the office
of the Comptroller General, was remanded back
to be tried summarily by the Police Bench. The

William Jeffreys, carpenter, Argyle-street, de-
posed that on the 26th August, he saw a man on
the top of Curran's house pulling down the roof.
Mrs. Osborne was there telling the man to pull
it down. The roof was composed of shingles,
batens, and rafters, and the man was throwing it
all down. Mr. Hillas and Mr. Hill objected to
this proceeding and sent for the constables, but
when those functionaries arrived defendants
would not give them admittance ? the house.

Kelly, who was, therefore, discharged with a
caution. Knowles was found guilty and sen-
tenced to 6 months' hard labor.
