Alderman Kerr said—there could be no ob-

had been hammering into the Council almost
since the first year of its existence, but he did
object to burdening the minutes with petitions
of motions on the same subject, and particularly
when as in this case the matter was actually

to the right of the Council to order and direct

Councillor dwelt at some length on the inconve-

in Collingwood, and stated that his principal
object in proposing the motion was to shew the
fallacy of the notion under which the proprietors
of land in Collingwood were labouring, in ima-
gining they would be entitled to compensation in
case of streets being run through their property,
the grant from the crown under which their pro-
perties were held distinctly reserving the right of
the crown to make all necessary roads through
the property without compensation of any kind.
