only, instead of introducing grammaatical precepts,
which a child in going though a spelling book can
not be supposed to have occasion for. or at all to
comprhend the nature of; or. vacabulary tables,
which are too fatiguing to the learner, and are ther-
fore, perhaps,very seldom attnded to by the Teach
ers. The Compiler has bestowed much Trouble in its
its arrangement : and he flatter himself it contains
considerably more of spelling than any other school-
book. In the selection of the Reading Lessons he
has preferred the most simple and easy, as well as
moral and instuctive, and feals gratified in the
self-assurance, that he has done allin his power to
render of Utility to those for whose improvement
it is designed.
