How are we to indicate the symbol of lower case l which follows numerals indicating pounds rather than the forward slash which resembles the sign of shilling /- ? Some of the financial amounts seem to be inaccurately portrayed as a result.

The nearest I can find to SKILLING - is skillion - which is a shed or structure adjoining a dwelling house in Australia. Do you think SKILLING was the forerunner to SKILLION ?
